All about the Waggy Tails Club |
|
Waggy Tails is a club for young people aged from 10-20 years. We meet at Emmanuel Church Hall, Rockhampton Road, South Croydon. All of our members have special needs/disabilities, with social and communication difficulties being the common link between them. We never set out to distinguish which disabilities Waggy Tails would best suit. It just happened that quite a few of our children at Waggy Tails are on the Autistic Spectrum e.g. Aspergers Syndrome. Please contact Carol Petley at 07939573211 or Sarah Prior on 07590481180 for more information.
Key facts about Waggy Tails
- There are four different sections at Waggy Tails. They are: Obedience Training, Puzzle Room, Dog Tricks and Games, and an Agility Room.
- The Obedience Training sessions have been increased to three slots of half an hour. These sessions run from 4:30 – 5pm, 5 – 5:30pm, and 5:30 – 6pm.
- Waggy Tails has been used in the past to help some special needs children overcome their fear of dogs. It is brilliant to say that not only are they overcoming their fear but they have asked to join in with the other children in training the dogs!
- It takes around thirty volunteers to run Waggy Tails in the hour and half that we are there.
